Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered when he was young, and he has sworn vengeance on the criminal underworld ever since.
Deathstroke
Batman first encountered the mercenary Deathstroke when Deathstroke held a man in a building hostage. Batman arrived to save the hostage, and The two fought. Just as Deathstroke was getting the better of Batman, Alfred and Robin showed up, and Alfred shot Deathstroke, wounding him. (LEGO Batman: Deathstroke)
